c b j Productions has existed in many forms for close to twelve years now. Starting with a modest boy and his PC, it grew to one of Northeastern Ohio's most beloved bulletin board systems, The Board With No Name. But, by the time it grew unto interstate plateaus and the first telephone bill was delivered, TBWNN was reduced to a pile of rubble. Chuck Sr. wasn't too happy, needless to say and that was the end of the communications division, then known as Junior Incorporated. c b j then moved toward the medium he still employees passionately - writing. Starting with a meek collaboration entitled, "U.S.I.T." which chronicled a group of super-agents and the struggle to keep the world a safe place, he moved into more biographical fare, by the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Martin Luther King, Marie Currie, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. From that point the stage was set for the Award Winning essay Desensitization, forever launching the career of this young author-in-training. c b j Productions was borne from his desire to produce. Currently, only one tale has made it into mainstream publication, Paseos Point in Lighthouse Digest Magazine, September 1996, but more are sure to follow.
After taking a good amount of time off to create the foundation he needed to continue, Chuck Bohatka Jr. and c b j Productions are back with an assertiveness. Bringing to publication his first novel, written from 1994 to 1996, The Root Beer Kid is a coming of age memoir, about one boys ability to cope after the death of his brother. A truly griping tale that will tug at your heart-strings as you watch the Elder family disappear into the void and return again.
Returning with the publication of Enough Shorts for a Wardrobe, Volume One, by iUniverse, September 2001, c b j Productions continues to live up the expectations of consumers, readers and fans alike. Compiled over the majority of the Nineties, Enough Shorts showcases moods and feelings, truly a collective of midnight therapy sessions that allow for a more perfect, insightful, look into social order. Not always optimistic, not always cynical, but a raw look through the eyes of a wayward adult fighting for a place in the world.
As the In Development pages will attest, there is always plenty going on at c b j Productions, and many things that will surely surprise and we hope captivate and compel you. A third novel, When the Wall Came Tumbling Down is slated for publication next and the initial draft of a fourth novel, To Better Parts and Other Places is nearing completion. Beyond these two immediate successes, we here at c b j Productions strive, one URL at a time, toward building an entertainment coalition with a mid-western, northeastern flair and hopefully have a good idea of what it is people like to invest time in. The only goal we have here is to eventually make people feel something when they read and most importantly not to bore them. We hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks.
Chuck Bohatka Jr.
Chuck has been writing professionally since 1994 when he began work on his first novel, The Root Beer Kid. During that time he has been a sports reporter for Cleveland Sun News, has been honored by the Cleveland Bar Association and had a short story published by Lighthouse Digest magazine.
